FLIP Bags
FYI,
Once these are delivered, please put them in my office. I will add them to the FLIP kiosk.
Thanks,
Justine
Hi everyone,
I hope you are enjoying the FLIP kiosk and the FLIP bags. Today sometime you are going to receive one or two boxes that will finish the rollout of the English kits. I am working on the Spanish kits starting today. I have just finished barcoding the books, now to get busy making the kits. I plan to have delivered to you all the Spanish kits by the end of the month. You will receive them in various ways. Some will come through the HPL courier, some delivered as those today.
The kits you are receiving today will be delivered by a Mach 5 courier. The kits are in boxes. Please accept them, check them in and put them on the kiosk. Thanks so much for all your support and work to get them out circulating.

Fall 2010 Launch of GED Classes at HPL
FYI,
Good Morning HPL Team,
I am excited to provide this update regarding the launch of the fall 2010 session of WeCAN Works Track II Adult Basic Education/GED courses. The session is scheduled to launch next Tuesday, September 7, 2010, and will continue through Thursday, December 9, 2010. The following venues will be hosting Track II courses for this cycle:
· Burnett Bayland Community Center
· HPL Express Southwest (Southwest Multi-Service Center)
· HPL Express Frank
· Carnegie Neighborhood Library
· Vinson Neighborhood Library
Please, review the attached flyer for details on registration/orientation and class schedules.
Also, in preparation for the launch, today I will be delivering copy cards via inter-departmental mail, to each of the HPL Track II locations. These copy cards are for the course instructors and should be used only for supplementary, classroom materials. To ensure proper usage, I have developed a copy log (see attached Excel spreadsheet) to track all of the copies made using the copy card. Each copy job should be authorized and signed off on by an HPL employee, as indicated on the log spreadsheet. Please, designate a space near or behind the front desk to keep the log, where it can be easily located by all staff.
If you have any questions and/or concerns regarding class schedule, copy cards, copy log, or the class in general, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at (832) 393-1623.
Thanks so much for all that you do!

Our New Goal: 80% Use of Self-Checkout Machine
Per Edward (and the powers that be above him), staff is encouraged to walk customers from the desk to the self-checkout machine to increase our usage of said machine.
Currently self-checkout usage is low (below 10% of our total checkouts), and the goal imposed on us is 80%.
Try to reach it. They will be looking at our numbers in the next couple of months.
