"Doesn't It Seem Warm In Here?"
- Feels like the inside of a Crock Pot, doesn't it?
- Well, um, I don't know about that, but yes, it's hot.
- Gosh, we sure need a repairman.

Movie Licenses
Movie licenses from Movie Licensing USA have been granted for HPL Express Southwest. We can show movies from the following studio production companies: Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star Pictures, Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, United Artists, Miramax Films, Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Lions Gate Films, and New Line Cinema inside our library.
We do not have many YA programs in our library, so this is a chance that we can increase YA programs.
I linked the general rules related to Movie Licenses in the "Desk Information" section.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Thuy

Online Registrations (Library Card)
From Fred Schumacher
Customers may register online for library accounts with limited privileges. Once a customer completes the online registration process, s/he is given a temporary access code, which functions as the barcode for the account. The temporary access code is the same as the patron record number that is assigned to the account at the time of creation. The customer is allowed to place holds, write reviews and use databases with the temporary access code, but the customer may not borrow materials until the account is upgraded to a full service borrower account.
Upgrading accounts registered online:
Customers who register online and wish to upgrade their accounts to include borrowing privileges must:
· complete a Power Card Registration Form and submit it
· provide proof of residency
Staff will:
- perform a name check to ensure that the customer does not already have a borrower account opened
- access the account that was registered online
- verify the information already entered in the account
- insert missing fields
- change the ptype to appropriately indicate the borrower’s residency
- replace the temporary access code with the barcode from the Power Card issued. The customer may then begin borrowing from the collections.
If the borrower already has an account, the borrower must resolve any outstanding fine/fee/overdue item(s) before borrower privileges are restored. Once the outstanding issues are resolved, the original account information should be updated.
Call 832-393-1571 or 832-393-1574 and request to speak with a supervisor or call your district LA Supervisor if you need further direction.

HPL Survey Project
Please encourage customers to complete the survey either online or on printed forms. In addition, after each computer class, trainers can ask customers to fill out the online survey. HPL Express Southwest only has one result so far.
Thank you very much for your effort of supporting this project.

Due to the accidents that we lost the Wii system, Macs keyboard and mouse, when you are scheduled to be on the desk, please walk around and monitor the library if you are not busy with customers. In addition, please do not work on your personal business at the front desk.
Thanks for your cooperation,
