Volunteers at SW

Hello All,

Just a quick reminder now that we have plenty of volunteers working here at our branch. Volunteers should not be doing the following when they are volunteering:

- Slacking off/sitting down not doing anything
- Using the computer
- Using their cellphones (texting, calling, etc.)
- Wandering the hallways (they should not leave the library unless they are helping with a program)
- Socializing (they can talk to people but they cannot stand/sit around and have lengthy conversations with their friends)

Things that they should be doing:
- Shelving books
- Shelf reading
- Helping patrons to make reservations
- Helping patrons to print or make copies
- Helping patrons to use the self-checkout station
- Helping patrons to locate books
- Helping patrons to place books on hold using the catalog computer
- Other assigned tasks as assigned by staff members

If you have notice the volunteers slacking off or if you see that a volunteer is not doing something they should be doing, please feel free to tell them something and let me know also. We have had a lot of people asking about doing hours and we can fire volunteers that are not doing what they are supposed to.
