Volunteers at SW

Hello All,

We are currently maxed out on the number of volunteers that we can take here at Southwest. Please DO NOT tell anybody that asks about volunteering opportunities that they can volunteer here. We should have some more opportunities available in July once some of the current volunteers finish their hours.

Also, the Summer Youth Enrichment Program Interns are going to be helping out at the front desk per Edward's instructions. They are to be assigned to the shelf-check machine. Any and all checkouts are to be sent to the shelf-check machine where the S.Y.E.P. Interns will complete the checkout procedure. If there are any dvds/cds to be checked out, they will be checked out first at the self-check machine and then brought to the desk to be filled. When the interns are assigned to the desk they are to be supervised by whichever staff member(s) is/are at the desk. The interns are here to assist us with everything except MilCirc. That means the staff memebers should be concerned with only things that involve MilCirc (new record creation, checking in books, looking up numbers, etc.). This means that the majority of shelving, shelf-reading, shelf-cleaning, etc. is to be done by the interns.

Finally, the intern's schedule will be merged into the main schedule used by the Southwest staff, this will allow you to see which intern is assigned where. If you notice that they are not where they need to be please let me know and I will correct the problem as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your help with this.

James
