Attention New Staff: Magazines (serials) Tips and a DVD tip

Hello everyone! Here are some tips to keep in mind with respect to Magazines and checkout procedures for them:

1) Any magazine that is dropped off at the desk (that comes in with mail or is dropped off with mail by the security guard) should be put on my desk, so that I can process them and give them a barcode, and then I'll put it on the shelf. Please do NOT put magazines on the shelves. If you are unsure about a magazine, just please put it on my desk and I will take care of it.

2) Newer issues of magazines may NOT be checked out to the public...they are checked out to HPL Express Southwest, until such time as a newer issue comes in. All magazines that can be checked out to the public will have a "C" on the lower left corner of the HPL barcode on the front-bottom of the magazine.

3) Processed magazines have an HPL barcode and a location sticker (ADU=Adult, YA=Young Adult, JUV=Juvenile/children's areas respectively) next to it. Magazines with ADU go in the adult section wall; magazines with YA go in the teen room wall, and JUV magazines go on the children's area wall.

***DVD Tips:
1) File incoming DVDs asap, or put boxes with discs inside on the shelf next to the DVD binder. Please do not put DVD boxes (with discs inside) on the cart. We have had problems with DVD thefts in the past.

Thank you for all your help. You have all caught on quickly on everything around here, and are all doing a great job!

Eric
