Today I attended a "conversation" with the Humana Foundation about how they and HPL can better promote a medical information website they've created at www.wellzone.org
The idea is that literacy is the strongest factor in determining patient prognosis. In other words, there are lots of people out there (even pharmacy technicians) who cannot read, and who don't understand what the doctors or health clinics tell them. This website was created to cater to people who read at or just below an 8th grade level, so they can get medical information in layman's terms.
Humana wants staff to check out the website, offer suggestions, point out deficiencies, and become familiar with it, so we as staff can help patrons with their questions regarding the site.
The site is easy to use, and has people on the home page directing visitors as to what's on the page.
Please send any comments or suggestions to the project evaluator, Dr. Julia Gasmararian at jagazma@sph.emory.edu They are working on a short feedback deadline of September 30, 2008, so check out the website, and let them know your thoughts.
In addition to the website, they will place a kiosk in our location in the future.
