I put out information about the Nov. 7 General Election for customers at the locations listed below. Familiarize yourself with this information so you can answer questions and direct customers to available resources for more information:
- On the public service desk: sample ballots and early voting schedule for customers to take, and a sign with the web address for the League of Women Voters election guide.
- On the bulletin board behind the copier: the early voting schedule
- On tables in the new books reading area: table tents about the League of Women Voters Guide.
Early Voting started Monday, Oct. 23, and runs through Friday, Nov. 3. During early voting Harris County residents can vote at any early voting location. The nearest locations to Southwest and Walter are
- Bayland Park Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet (near Hillcroft)
- Tracy Gee Community Center, 3599 Westcenter Dr (near Beltway 8)
- 10/23-27: 8AM-4:30PM
- 10/28: 7AM-7PM
- 10/29: 1-6PM
- 10/30-11/3: 7AM-7PM
On Election Day, Nov. 7, voters will vote at their assigned precinct location, 7AM-7PM. Voter ID is required. Go to HarrisVotes.com for ID information and polling locations.
The general election includes 7 state constitutional amendments and 5 City of Houston bond issues to cover pension funding and improvements to public safety, parks, public works, and the library, as well as a local option election to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in the Heights.
